He was her husband of almost two decades, but this morning 47 year old Emmitt Bradley allegedly cut his wife, 46 year old Nerba Bradley’s throat. The Cayo couple had a history of domestic violence, and despite sharing five children, this morning it all came to a bloody end for those Bradley children. The couple had been separated for some time. Nehra went back to her family in Esperanza Village and the father took up residence in Santa Elena.
But police say this morning Emmitt went looking for Nebra at the pastry store where she worked on the Cristo Rey Road. Nebra went outside to see him. But an argument started between the two and before anyone could realize what was happening, Ermitt fatally slashed Nerba. The husband was quickly taken into custody and 7NEWS was there when he was charged with his wife’s murder. Outside of the San Ignacio Police Station Jacqueline Godwin caught up with the family of the accused and the officer in charge David Henderson.
Supt. David Henderson, Officer Commanding San Ignacio Police
“Well it seems to be a domestic dispute and we have since then arrested the lady’s husband, he has been charged with the crime.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
Is it true that in the past you all have had to deal with this couple?
Supt. David Henderson,
“Well I haven’t but I understand prior to my arrival here in San Ignacio, I understand they had a few incidents.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
I understand they had a troubled relationship. Were they arguing all the time?
Isabel Pitts, Sister of Accused
“Yes sometimes they argue like when my brother doesn’t work, she gets frustrated, she goes ‘left him, when he would get a job she would come back and stuff like that but I wouldn’t believe it would have come to this point that he had to kill her.”
Supt. David Henderson,
“I know that both persons are separated, the wife is living in Esperanza and the husband is living in Santa Elena and based on our investigation, it seems that the lady had just went to work and was called from out of her work when the incident occurred.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
What exactly occurred?
Supt. David Henderson,
“Well she was called out, I understand some dispute happened, and she got her throat cut.”
Isabel Pitts,
“He chopped her neck and so.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
She was decapitated?
Isabel Pitts,
“Yes. Just that they said. The head is not off, just almost. This morning they told me that my brother killed his wife but we weren’t certain

about it so we come by the hospital and we confirmed that it was true and then well I went there and talked to him and so and he told me he didn’t mean to do it. He was asking me if the wife died and I told him yes she died. He felt sorry, he said he didn’t know he was going to kill her.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
Were you ever scared that one day this would have happened?
Isabel Pitts,
“Well yes but not that bad, you know. It happened at their house where they would have fighting and so but I wouldn’t believe it would happen like that. I don’t think he should be punished so hard because God gives justice – only he knows what he has in his heart and what the lady – I would say she provoked him or what. So I don’t think he should be punished so hardly.”
Forty seven year old Ermitt Bradley has been charged with murder. Following his appearance in San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court, he was transported to Hattieville Prison where he is on remand.
