He’s already been charged for murder and multiple other charges for May 18th’s deadly grenade blast on Mayflower Street and today 16 year old Akeem Smith was back in court, where he was slapped with more charges. There are six additional charges to be precise and they are grievous harm upon Erwin James, Kendis Flowers, and Darren Myvette. In addition he was charged with two counts of wounding upon Sharee Smith and Chiston Gordon, and harm upon Tyrone Meighan. They are six of the 13 people injured in the explosion which occurred on May 18th.
Akeem and his 20 year old brother Kareem Smith were previously charged for conspiracy to commit murder. Akeem was the only one charged for murder. He was arraigned on the additional charges today in the Family Court.
Why the charges now? The chief investigator Sinquest Martinez says the additional charges came after a doctor at the KHMH concluded his examinations of the 6 mention persons who were injured in the explosions. He said more charges are pending for the other injured persons.
