The gun was fake but police say 30 year old Marlon Clarke’s intentions were real which is why he is in jail tonight for possession of a plastic gun. Clarke was busted by police on patrol between 10 and 11 on Saturday night in the Newtown Barracks area. The officers say Clarke looked suspicious and those suspicions grew when they saw him throw what looked like a gun and attempted to flee the scene. Police recovered the object and detained Clarke who they allege was carrying a bag in which there was a roll of tape, a small pocket knife, and a black ski mask.
He was formally charged in court today for possession of an imitation firearm and an additional charge of going equipped. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of $5,000. He couldn’t meet it and so he was remanded to the Hattieville Prison.
