Since Thursday the Casildo family claims that they have been trying to get the body of their son and brother Gregory Casildo, Belize’s most wanted who was shot and killed by police. The family said they first tried to get their brother’s remains five days ago to bury him along with his father on Sunday but they were denied any access to him. Today the family say they believe the reason why they were not shown their bother’s body is because the police did not shoot him to death but they strongly believe he was beaten and killed. The family also says that is why an autopsy was performed before they could view the body. That examination took place today at the city’s morgue and that is where we found the family. They told 7NEWS that they are not on the media to defend their brother’s reputation but only to see that he gets a proper burial and that the truth be told about how he died.

Lisa Casildo says now that the post mortem has been conducted, the police want the family to quickly bury her brother because his body is now badly decomposed. She says they have no intention of rushing that process because there are many questions unanswered.

Elisa Casildo, Sister
“We want the body. We get to understand no gunshot is on my brother. They ripped out one of his hands. We want to give him a proper burial because he deserves that. We won’t dash him under dirt today none at all. We will make sure he gets his burial because that is our brother."

For the past three months Gregory Casildo had been on the run after he was being sought for two murders in Placencia, area resident Shannon Shaggy Henderson and businessman Samuel De Jesus Ortiz. Casildo was also wanted for a string of robberies out west and two weeks ago for the hold-up and robbery that occurred inside the home of a Mennonite family in Spanish Lookout. A police team was deployed to that area to hunt for Gregory Casildo and it paid off around two last Thursday morning when the police stopped a car on the Yalbac Road, and Casildo who was one of the passengers inside. They allege that he came out and started firing shots at them and they responded. The police claim he was shot four times.

We tried to contact Dr. Mario Estradabran for the result of the post mortem conducted on the body of Gregory Casildo but our calls were not answered.
