BDF Private Hubert Cacho is out on bail tonight after he was charged for stealing his ex-common-law wife’s cell phone. But that’s only half the story because Cacho says he is a victim too, of assault.
First to the alleged theft which occurred on Saturday night. Yvette Morrison says that at 11:55 she was on Orange Street when Cacho approached and put an object to her head and demanded she turn over her Samsung cell phone valued at $1,900. She identified her robber as Private Cacho who she says called her on Sunday night and threatened her. She went to police anyway and he was charged in court yesterday and released on bail.
Here’s his side of the story. Private Cacho says he was walking at the busiest intersection in the city, the corner of Albert and Orange Streets yesterday morning at 11:00 am - when a green mini van with taxi license plates drove up and a female who was inside the van stretched out her hand and tried to hit him. A struggle ensued and he managed to free himself and that’s when he saw the driver of the van pull up to him, pull out a black pistol, pointed it at him and threaten to kill him.
Police say they are investigating and have so far made no arrest or charged anyone for the alleged assault upon this soldier of misfortune.
