Details are scarce at this time but 7NEWS has confirmed that a special police patrol unit found a live grenade in an abandoned lot on the southside of Belize City this evening around 5. As we said little is known but we do know that an aggressive new operation has been launched and that’s what turned up the grenade. Commander of National Police Operations Assistant Commissioner of Police Crispin Jeffries confirmed to us that a grenade was recovered but had few details on it. He says more information will be released tomorrow.
A month ago on August 2nd, Raymond Gentle turned in a live grenade to police in exchange for police dropping a drug trafficking charge. And then again there was the deadly grenade attack in May on Mayflower Street which killed 1 man and injured 17 people.
