And while the 21st. Is going through security changes, the tenth of September has come and gone and the news tonight is that there was no incidence of crime to report. That’s right – there were no murders, no robberies, and no assaults in Belize City. Commander of Police Operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police Crispin Jeffries accredits this to a seriously beefed up presence of police officers along with BDF soldiers.

Crispin Jeffries, Commander of Operations
“The matter of the Tenth was that we’ve stepped up the security presence, in fact we went up including the BDF, we added at least 125 officers to the security arrangement, and some additional features; features that we would not have normally used unless the public felt it was necessary and I believe a lot of the success was because the public support was there for the type of security arrangement so there was no complaint of armed soldiers walking our street on a day like the 10th of September.”

Keith Swift,
Will it be sustained?

Crispin Jeffries,
“It is being sustained. Right now that was a follow up to a series of street night time and day time operations that were taking place over the weekend leading up to the Tenth of September.”
