Englebert Reynolds also walked out of court a free man today after a jury voted 7 to 2 to acquit him of attempted murder. He was charged for shooting Ernest Sacasa outside the Q Nightclub on June 24th 2007. Sacasa says Reynolds pulled a gun on him after an altercation inside the club. He further alleged that he went outside the club, Reynolds followed him and opened fire, shooting at him several times with what Sacasa described as a chrome firearm.
Sacasa ran back in the club and on the witness stand told the jury he was sure Reynolds was the shooter. Reynolds challenged that identification in cross examination, telling Sacasa that he knew who the real shooter was and that he was afraid to say the name.
What also worked against the prosecution was that there was no IDF parade and Sacasa’s identification of Reynolds was from the dock. Reynolds offered no defense but it took a jury about 4 hours to vote in the majority to acquit him. He too was prosecuted by a new crown counsel Trienia Young.
