Assistant Commissioner of Police Crispin Jeffries, he made his name during the unrest of 2005 when he emerged as a glowering, and fearless operator and head of the riot squad. And while he was seen as an enemy of the opposition and the media, Jeffries always maintained that he was just doing his job.
And that job became far more important in the urban terror era and that’s when as Commander of Operations, his competent and confidence inspiring performance became crucial to the UDP government.
And Jeffries has been rewarded. He comes up for retirement on November fourth, but senior sources have confirmed to 7NEWS that he has been given a one year contract and will stay on as Operations Commander.
