The gun amnesty ends on October 31st and while the guns have not been pouring in, there has been a steady trickle. Today the CYDP Office noted the handing in of two shotguns, one of them a sawed off. Director Edward Broaster encouraged illegal gun owners to act now or face consequences tomorrow.

Supt. Edward Broaster, CYDP Director
“One was turned in yesterday. The four tenths sawed off shotgun was turned in yesterday by a citizen and today we had the 16 gauge shotgun along

with the 20 cartridges of sixteen gauge calibre turned into today. Today is Wednesday the 29th, we have a couple more days before Saturday the close of the amnesty and we would like to encourage those people out there with illegal firearms to turn in their firearms.”

Jules Vasquez,
A cynic or a skeptic would say these guns first of all are not the weapons of choice on the streets because they are single action weapon. Second, that in fact this is only crepe paper, this isn’t the real root of the root and the bud of the bud as concerned the crime problem.

Supt. Edward Broaster,
“Well Jules sometimes too it takes time to get to the minds and hearts of persons who possess illegal firearms. I would not be surprised that come next week someone turns in some firearms to the CYDP.”

Jules Vasquez,
I don’t see any nine milimeter handguns, I don’t see any assault rifle type weapons.

Supt. Edward Broaster,
“Nevertheless Jules this is an opportunity that was provided for those individuals, if they choose not to take this opportunity then they will have to stand the consequences of the law after this.”

Those wanting to turn in guns can do so at the CYDP office or any district police station, no questions asked.
