Driver Killed in Accident on Iguana Creek Bridge

A driver was killed on Sunday after his vehicle flipped and landed on him in a river. Around 4:30 pm – 56 year old Melvin Mendoza was driving from Blackman Eddy to Spanish Lookout in his Ford Ranger pickup truck. He was crossing the Iguana Creek Bridge and wet conditions caused him to lose control of his pickup truck. It slid down the side of the railing and overturned – landing in the river on top of Mendoza. He died on the spot. Orlando Trapp who was in the vehicle received minor injuries for which he was treated at the Belmopan Hospital.
