A 16 year old girl is in jail tonight for allegedly threatening a witness – not once but twice. Catherine Blease who is a witness in an upcoming murder says that at 8:30 yesterday morning on Arlington Drive the minor told her quote: “if you nuh mek my brother walk – you wah dead.” Blease says half hour later she saw the teen again and she uttered the same threat. Blease reported it to police and today the 16 year old was arrested. She was arraigned in Family Court on two counts of attempted suppression of evidence. Bail was denied because the 16 year old has an aggravated assault charge pending before the court.
And if you are wondering why the police threw the book at the 16 year old – we are told it is in compliance with what the Chief Justice said at the opening of the Supreme Court on Monday. His directive to the police was to charge those who threaten witnesses and charge reluctant witnesses with perjury.
Catherine Blease is a witness in the murder trial of Charles Castillo Jr. He is charged for the murder last March of Tyrone Castellanos.
