You may not remember 20 year old Aaron Jimenez, his name only flashed into the news after he was shot at the City Center on April 20th. He was the victim of vigilante justice, where he was shot in the foot by a red skinned man who thought that Jimenez had broken into his vehicle. After getting shot, he was then pounced on by a mob of onlookers.

Well, it turns out that the gunman and the mob were wrong; Jimenez was not the one who broke into the pickup, but was the victim of mistaken identity, and for that, was shot and beat down for no reason. The interesting part is that the tall red skinned man who he told police shot him has still not been charged or identified by police.

But one man has been charged for beating him, and now also for shooting him. Deayroll Dougal a prison officer was yesterday charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and was remanded into custody at the Hattieville Prison. He had also charged with wounding with a firearm on Tuesday, pleaded guilty and was bailed for one thousand dollars. But that charge was upgraded yesterday and he was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm – to which he also pleaded not guilty and while Dougal was alleged to be a part of the beat down crew, Jimenez told police that the shooter was tall and red skinned; that physical description does not match Dougal. Dougal was remanded until June the fifteenth, 2009.

As for Jimenez, while he declined an on camera interview, he told us that he is disappointed at how he was made out to be the perpetrator of a crime he knew nothing about. The sixth former was playing basketball at the City Center outdoor court when he was wrongly targeted as the one who broke into a pair of cars.
