10 years in prison for stealing pedialyte and milk may seem extreme – but that’s what was doled out in court today. Thirty one year old Jason Clarke was found guilty today of burglary, a charge he knows all too well; this was his fourth conviction of the same offence. That like strike four, and so he was given the maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. A 15 year old who was jointly charged with Clarke was sentenced only to 6 months because of his age.
The burglary took place in February of last year at Plaza Medical. The police had received a report while the burglary was still in process and upon their arrival they caught both Clarke and the minor inside. Clarke however managed to escape, and was apprehended days later. They stole 9 bottles of pedialyte and 3 bottles of milk. Neither of them testified or gave a statement, but chose instead to remain silent.
