This was the scene around nine twenty where the police had already strung their yellow tape across the area where two men had gotten shot. The scenes of crime team found 6 expended shells on the scene.
The shooting victims have been identified as taxi driver 39 year old Wilton Chaneb and 28 year old Chester Norales. Norales received several gunshot wounds to his body and Wilton Chaneb was injured in both hands. Initial investigation revealed that the victims were in a taxi heading from Euphrates Avenue to Allenby Street and upon reaching the corner a male person fired several shots in their direction hitting both. Police have not indicated what is the relationship between the two men or if one was hiring the other as a cab driver. But the shooter wasn’t asking questions. When the car reached the corner of Euphrates Avenue and Allenby Street, a man who was standing on the pavement opened fire on it.
When we saw the car, it showed multiple bullet holes many of them on the windshield by the driver’s side. But even with all that lead, after getting shot the men still managed to drive themselves to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
Chester Norales’s family did not want to talk about their brother’s shooting or if they know why he may have been shot. But it is not the first time that Chester Norales who is no stranger to the police has received gunshot injuries – our records show him first getting shot when he was just 15. Sources tell 7News that Chester Norales was released from the Hattieville Prison a month ago.
