Around 5 this evening there was a collision involving a Geo Tracker and a motorcycle on the Northern Highway. It occurred at mile 2 and a half – just in front of the Traveller’s Bar. No one was seriously hurt but it created a traffic nightmare for drivers attempting to leave or enter the city as the traffic was diverted for at least 30 minutes. The cyclist whose name is not known received an injury to the leg and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The Tracker’s driver Sonia Alas says she was making a left off Park Avenue and onto the Northern Highway when the motorcycle came speeding out of nowhere.
Sonia Alas, Involved in Accident
“Things happened so fast that I don’t even know how to explain to you.
I was coming out because I live right around the corner. I was coming and

you know you have to wait until the traffic clears. Actually they had this bus there and then people were coming off the bus. So nobody was behind the bus so I went and at the same time this guy came flying trying to pass the bus. So that is the same time when he knocked me. Thank God people who was behind saw everything so that is how the whole thing happened.”
Keith Swift,
“What condition was the guy on the bike?”
Sonia Alas,
“Well thank God the guy only got injured on his foot, nothing really bad, thank God nothing happened to him so…”
Keith Swift,
“You feel you did nothing wrong?”
Sonia Alas,
“I feel bad in one way because at the same time people are telling me that I want to kill the guy. How will I kill somebody? I just glad that nothing happened to the guy and I do not feel guilty because I was not taking over and I tried to pass a car and so that is just an incident happened and the guy was in the wrong spot. I was coming out when he was flying coming.”
Traffic police arrived on the scene just as we were leaving. Again the driver of the motorcycle is reported to have received only an injury to the leg and an ambulance took him to the hospital.
