An 18 year old American woman cried rape but 38 year old businessman Lewis “DJ Wiz” Leiva says `she was drunk and that it was consensual sex. Well after deliberating for two hours, late this evening a jury voted unanimously to convict Leiva of rape.
The rape occurred on July 12th of 2007 at the Red Hut Inn in Bella Vista. Leiva owns the guesthouse along with his Chinese wife. The victim was a guest there along with her sister. The victim says she was drunk at the time and was slipping in and out of consciousness. The victim’s sister was in the room at the time and she says that on the night of the rape, Leiva knocked on her door and asked to say goodnight to her sister. She allowed him in and a few minutes she says she saw them having sex.
Leiva took the stand in his defence and admitted that he had sex with the 18 year old but that it was consensual. He says that she was trying to blackmail him. The jury delivered its verdict at 5:50. Justice Adolph Lucas will sentence Lewis Leiva on September 24th.
