But one person police have charged is the teenager who allegedly murdered Ellis Meighan. He is a 17 year old minor who was today arraigned in court on a single charge of murder. Police believe that the shooter was trying to settle a beef with Meighan’s son – and when they couldn’t find him, they shot the father. The former cyclist was gunned down around 8:30 on the night of September 13th as he rode his bike at the corner of Banak Street and Central

American Boulevard. Witnesses say that a gunman on a bicycle approached and shot Ellis Meighan in the head.

Taxi Man Released

In an update to another story we ran on Friday, Police have detained suspects but have not brought charges for Friday’s midday armed robbery at Tienda Melchor on Cemetery Road.

One man who is neither detained nor likely to be charged is the taxi-man we showed you Allen Martinez. He was detained for questioning briefly and released after he gave police a statement. But he told us today he was involved, but not as a part of any criminal crew, it was simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Martinez told us he had a female passenger in the front seat and was driving by the Tienda Melchor when two men flagged him down. Martinez said he picked them up and had no clue what they were up to. His passenger corroborated the story and Martinez was not charged.
