52 year old Lionel “Scotty” Scott was today convicted of aggravated assault of an indecent nature for fondling a 10 year old girl. The incident occurred on December 9th of 2008. The girl told the court en camera that she was walking on raccoon street extension on her way to the grocery shop when Scott invited her into his home. She says that he subsequently fondled her. A relative further testified that when she went to Scott’s house to investigate what was happening – she caught him in the act.
Scott took the stand in his defense but didn’t deny the allegation. His only argument was that the girl lied when she said she knew him for one year. He says the girl only knew him for one month. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie found Scott guilty and sentenced him to the maximum sentence – 2 years in prison.
