It took a jury 4 hours this evening to acquit former Police Corporal Francis Ogaldez of extortion. Ogaldez was charged for allegedly extorting $400 from Windell White. White reported that he gave Corporal Ogaldez the money on September 14th 2007 because he thought he had been in accident on August 26th. And White says he wasn’t sure because he was drunk. He claimed that Corporal Ogaldez went to his house and told him that if he gave him $400, he could make the matter go away. Suspicious, White informed police who set up a sting operation and they allegedly busted corporal Ogaldez with $305.

The now former Corporal Ogaldez gave a statement from the dock in which he claims he was set up and that the police acted illegally when they marked the money. The jury was convinced and the now former corporal has been cleared of all charges.
