There is some encouraging news to report tonight about 7 year old shooting victim Janay Moguel. On Monday her family gathered enough funds to fly her abroad for further medical treatment and physical therapy. As we’ve been reporting, Janay faces paralysis after she was injured by a stray bullet in a wild shooting spree on Central American Boulevard on February 2nd.

The bullet hit Janay’s spine and after a week in the ICU, the family was told doctors did all they could in Belize. Janay was released from the Healthcare Partners Hospital on Monday and she and her mother flew out on a Continental Airlines flight.

The family is facing an uphill battle and an enormous medical bill and is asking for your help. Donations can be deposited into Scotia Bank account number 1000501. You can also contact her father Marvin Moguel directly at 604-8121.
