Thirty eight year old Hattieville resident Glenn Smith was last seen alive by family between the seventeenth and eighteenth of December. In the two and a half months since, his family came to the increased certainty that he had been killed – as rumor around the village had all but confirmed. But still the family was haunted by one question: where was his body? They got the answer yesterday evening when police received a tip that led them to the shooting range between mile 18 and 19 on the Western Highway. We found the family there today in the throes of grief.

Jules Vasquez Reporting,
That is the spasm of grief that gripped the sisters of Glen Smith as they viewed his remains this morning. His body was found here at the shooting range at mile 19 on the western highway yesterday afternoon. He was buried in a grave about three feet deep – and after the post mortem police handed those remains to the family for immediate burial.

That’s where we found his sister Delsey this morning, standing guard, keeping watch over her brother’s remains. It was a scene that would cause anyone anguish and for this family who has been haunted by their brother’s disappearance for two months, it brings a sense of closure.

Paula Smith, Sister
“I will tell you the truth, I am relieved. Two months and eleven yesterday

made and I feel good. You know why I feel good, because at least the murderer or the murderers whosoever, they still have a heart because I pray and I asked God to please just make them give me a body and I thank God that I received a body. If it is even like this, I don’t care, it doesn’t matter, thank God I get a body and I could bury my body. God is above all.

Yes Jules I worry everyday. This thing sent me to hospital, in and out of hospital, but I stand one day and I said Paula you need to stand up.”

Delsey Smith, Sister
“I am glad, over glad I find my brother because I see some people two years, three years, they don’t know where the body is and I am glad. All the answer left now is who, who is responsible for my brother and that answer I will get. Just like how I pray every night and I asked my mom, she is dead, mom please tell me where my brother is, bring my brother. Yes we got him. The next step is who put the body there. That is our haunted position right now. Who put the body there.”

There were no answers to that question that morning just the certainty that he had been killed must likely with a wound to the head made by a sharp object. His family and friends who gathered came around had the duty of getting his body into a coffin. It was taken out leaving this large extended family to console itself. And why did his killers choose to bury him at this shooting range, and where was he killed and who did it? - all those questions were left behind at mile 19 this morning.

The only substantial clue the family had was that a week after his disappearance, his slippers were found on the Dollar Bank Road. A Police report says that the findings of an on-site post mortem have not yet been ascertained.
