Last night we reported that the contentious box of contraband auto parts had been sent from the Police Department to the Customs Department and that should have been the end of that. Except it isn't. The aftershocks of the standoff with the BDF over the contraband are still rippling out.

A release from the Police press office minutes ago says that there was, quote, "dissatisfaction" when Police took the contraband items from the BDF. It says, quote, "The matter was resolved after some difficulties at the station." Difficulties we take to mean guns drawn, police station encircled.

It continues to say that today a follow-up meeting was held between members of both High Commands of the Police Department and the BDF, where it was concluded that the actions of Officer Commanding Benque Viejo, Inspector Mai, precipitated the dissatisfaction in the process.

It concludes tersely, "Inspector Mai is being re-posted to San Ignacio."

Police promise that they will quote, "maintain strict observance of the Protocols established between the units regarding patrols." This might also be re-worded as, "they will obey the law" which requires contraband to be taken to Customs.
