And while the Witz arrest was not a part of operation Jaguar, another drug bust was. This one happened on K Street in the King's park area. Thasha Herrerra, a domestic threw a white sweater over her face when she appeared in court today charged with trafficking 2.4 kilos of cocaine - which is over 5 pounds. She pleaded not guilty but Magistrate Sharon Fraser explained that the court could not offer her bail because of the quantity of cocaine.

But there was a special circumstance which allowed Herrera to stay out of jail. Fraser explained that based on the medical certificate submitted by her attorney Dickie Bradley she will be released in the custody of a community rehabilitation officer until June second. By then, her attorney should be able to secure bail for her. Presumably the certificate explained that Herrera has a 10 day old child which she is nursing.

The bust happened at around 11:00 on Wednesday, May 19th. Police searched the yard at 5436 K Street and found two parcels, each of them containing 1.2 kilos of cocaine. Police then searched the house where Herrerra was the only occupant and found photographs and documents for Alwyn Gonzalez, Herrera's common-law husband. He will also be charged, police say, but he hasn't been detained yet.
