One drug bust that operation jaguar is not taking credit for is Diego Witz's. He was caught with over nine pounds of cocaine on Wednesday. The Forty eight year old Punta Gorda resident and store-owner was arraigned on drug trafficking charges in court today. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate Sharon Fraser explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because of the nature of the charge. She remanded him into custody until June 28th.

The story of Witz's bust began at the Texaco Gas station at mile one on the northern highway where ASP Alford Grinage spotted him making what appeared to be a drug purchase from a man in a car with Dangriga plates. Witz jumped into his white car with Corozal plates and headed north. The Dangrig car left the gas station heading in the direction of the Western Highway, Grinage pursued in his unmarked, undercover Toyota Hilux. That pursuit ended at the corner of Vernon and Partridge streets when he crashed into a land rover Discovery owned by Deputy Leader of the PUP Francis Fonseca and driven by George Domingo. The airbag was deployed; Grinage was knocked unconscious and had to be hospitalized while the red car got away.

But Witz was not so lucky in his vehicle. An anti drug unit team followed and caught him at mile four on the northern highway. Inside the car they found a red knapsack with 4.2 kilos of cocaine and Six Thousand dollars U.S. currency. The cocaine was marked "boss" - which is the imprint of the cartel or producer that exported it.
