And last night at around 9:45 there was a murder at the corner of St. Thomas and Dunn Streets. It's an address just across from the back of the KHMH and it's not an area known for violence - but last night two men walked up to the home at the corner and one of them opened fire.
According to the family, it was over - of all things - a dispute that started on the basketball court. Monica Bodden was on the scene and she has more:...

She didn't want to show her face but she couldn't hide her grief…
Marie Grant, Neighbour
"He is a quiet person. He is a working person. He doesn't fool around with nobody. He don't even have friends, only my husband he goes to his house, then he goes by the neighbour across the street. Only those two places he goes."
Last night when we arrived on the scene, 38 year old Carlos Quiroz was already taken away in an ambulance. According to many onlookers he was still gasping for life. He was shot in this yard where he lives at the corner St Thomas and Dunn Street.
Heavily armed guards lined the area as the crime scene experts processed another homicide scene. The shooting took place at about 9 o'clock last night. Quiroz was outside his house talking to a friend who also lives in the same yard. He was sitting on this plastic chair - when a lone gunman approached him - pointed a gun to his head and fired 2 shots at point blank range.
The gunman then turned and fired a shot at the other man who was in the yard with Quiroz. Luckily for him - he was only grazed.
And even though the hospital is right across the street from where the shooting took place - that wasn't enough to save the life of Carlos Quiroz.

"This is the third time they shoot after him."
Monica Bodden
"Third time in what? A month or how long"?
Marie Grant, Neighbour
"About 2 weeks ago they fire a gunshot at him. We call for the police but they took so long to come. My brother calls them and that is how they reach."
After the shooting the gunman then walked up the street - where he made his way through an alley near All Saints Primary School. Today Quiroz's neighbours - were still shaken by what had happened in this once quiet Kings Park community. They all say they have lost a good man.
Monica Bodden
"You heard the rumours about the hard talking on the basketball court that he and another individual exchange a couple weeks ago?"
Marie Grant, Neighbour
"Yes, I heard about it."
Jules Vasquez
"You sure it was ball or maybe something else, some other kind of dispute they had?"
Marie Grant, Neighbour
"I only know about that. Because that is what everybody is saying, the person told him that he will get to him; he will send someone to kill him."
According to police, the other man who was sitting with the deceased is PHILLIP RAMIREZ and he escaped unhurt. Our reports say he was grazed. Those reports also say that fearing further attacks, he has left the country.
