Dr. John Gough, he's been much in the news this week after a border brawl with Dr. Ervin Gabourel that earned each a charge of disorderly conduct. And while Gough will go to Corozal Magistrate's Court to be arraigned on that charge on Monday, he was back in Belize City Magistrate's court for an ongoing trial in which he is facing charges of wounding a 16 year old. For what it's worth, he didn't look like he had been in a fight a few days earlier - particularly not in a fight where he was described by his own family as having gotten the worst of it.
Well that case is coming to an end. Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer has set September eighth to render her decision. Gough is charged along with Egbert Nicholson for causing a wound to Carlos Zelaya Jr on Dolphin Drive in Buttonwood Bay on February 15, 2010.
Zelaya testified that Nicholson punched him first and then Dr. Gough beat him with an object resembling a firearm. Rafeal Leal testified that he saw Dr. Gough and Nicholson beating Zelaya.

Nicholson testified that he saw a man jump over Gough's fence and when Dr. Gough arrived in his vehicle, and caught up with the man, the man lifted his shirt as if to draw a weapon. Nicholson said he then punched the man to defend himself. Dr. Gough testified that he did not get out of his vehicle.
Both the prosecution and attorney Ellis Arnold who represented Gough and Nicholson gave their closing addresses today. We'll tell you how the judgment goes in three and a half weeks.
