Summer's slowly winding down and so are most of the summer programs that have been ongoing for the past couple weeks. Among those camps that are ending is the Institute Of Creative Arts' painting and drawing course. We were there when they started and we were there today as they exhibited their summer works:.....

"My painting is symbolizing Belize in a good way because it has the toucan and national symbols, as well, it has the Maya ruins and the Maya ruins."

"Why did you decide to paint this?"
Darwin Roches
"I decided to paint this because I want to show Belize a different way of expressing yourself through art."

"Do you enjoy expressing yourself through art?"
Darwin Roches
"Yes."

"Why do you think art is so important?"
Darwin Roches
"I think art is important because even you can't talk you can still express yourself through art. It's just like talking."

"Well, the art class was fun and enjoying because miss took the time and had patience to teach us. First, we learned how to draw, and then we went on to paint. Miss taught us how to paint step-by-step and draw step-by-step."

"My favorite part was the drawing because we had a lot of fun."

"Tell me how does it feel seeing your kids going from the first day barely knowing how to draw to them painting on canvas? "

"I'm excited as you can see today. My kids came a long way, they were focused. We started out with 34 and ended up with 20, and those are the 20 who endured and produced their masterpieces, so I'm proud and excited for them."

"It was a wonderful experience. It was very challenging, but wonderful. I learned a lot from the kids as much as they learned from me."

"The most rewarding part is seeing these masterpieces."
The art class held a brief award ceremony at the bliss, where the children also had their work on display.
