Forty-five year old former Special Constable Emmanuel Lopez, charged with unlawful possession of Police Department accoutrements and false pretense of an officer, pleaded guilty to the charges today in the #5 Magistrate's Court.
Magistrate Albert Hoare fined him $500.00 for unlawful possession of Police Department accoutrements and $200.00 for false pretense of an officer. He gave Lopez until December 23 to pay the fines. If he defaults on payment he will serve five months for the first offence and two months for the second.
The incident occurred on Friday, November 12.
Lopez, who didn't hand in the police notebook when he quit being a special constable, went with it to GS Com, a store at 8 Baymen Avenue, and began to ask the sale representative, Diana Ramos, questions.
Ramos became suspicious and she told her boss who called the police. When he was arraigned on the first charge on Monday, November 22, Lopez said he was soliciting donations for a funeral.
