Thirty-three year old Police Corporal, Emilio Pat, attached to the Special Patrol Unit, became an inmate at Belize Central Prison today when he appeared in the #3 Magistrate's court and was charged with aggravated assault.
Pat pleaded not guilty to the charge but the lawman was remanded because it is a firearm offence. Magistrate Kayla Teck remanded him until December 22.
The incident occurred on Saturday November 20. The complainant, Omar Kerr, a resident of Burrell Boom, reported to the police that he and two of his friends were in his vehicle parked in the vicinity of Cool Spot Night Club in Burrell Boom when Corporal Pat appeared.
Kerr said Pat became angry when his friends told Pat that he was having an affair with Pat's wife. Kerr said Pat drew his 9 millimeter service firearm and pointed it at him, putting him in fear of his life.
