Sometime between two-thirty and three-fifteen on Sunday Morning Publics Supermarket on Central American Boulevard was burglarized. The burglars, believed to be four men, only managed to take a small amount of cash - reportedly 7,500 dollars and thought they made a clean escape, but the supermarket was equipped with surveillance cameras with night vision that picked up the burglary.

The employees found this out this morning when the security guard and sub-manager arrived at work and discovered the business burglarized and immediately called the store manager. She told us what happened:

Wendy Rodriguez, Store Manager
"When I reached here I found out that they had broken into the building through the warehouse door that we have right above us in the front area, there is a balcony and there is a door that goes into the warehouse and we noticed that persons that were in the building came downstairs and they went into the office where we keep our petty cash which is to open on Sunday and Monday morning. They did not really had a successful robbery because they didn't really get away with anything much. They broke into the office by forced entry, they apparently used a crowbar to come into the building and also to break into the office. So thankfully we have secured the building with night vision cameras so we caught on cameras all the person that were in the building and because of that right now the police already have one suspect in custody and he is being questioned at the moment."

Andrea Polanco
"So how many burglars did the cameras pick up?"

Wendy Rodriguez, Store Manager

"We picked up so far 4 people, they had a person outside that we call the watchman, he was the one that was picked up right now and inside there were 2 people apparently there was one on the balcony. 2 male persons inside the building; one on the balcony and one outside. Its approximately between 2:19 - 3:15 in the morning. But they were in the building from that time up to 4:05 so they had ample time to do as much as they could have done."

Andrea Polanco
"So they only took cash and not merchandise?"

Wendy Rodriguez, Store Manager
"They didn't take any merchandise and they only took the petty cash like I said, dollar coins, 2 dollars, 5 dollars, 10 dollars and that was just for the Sunday and the Monday that we used to open the cash registers."

"That is a sum so far that we come up to like $7,500.00."

The store manager said this is the first time the store has been burglarized. Police investigations continue.
