Resort owner and occasional politician Daniel Silva - the owner of Cahal Pech Resort in San Ignacio Town, reported to police that on Thursday night of last week - he secured his licensed 9millimeter pistol with six live rounds - inside a wooden locker situated in the lobby area of Cahal Pech Resort.
Silva told police that the watchman - 24 year old Marvin Virulla- was the only person who had access to the firearm in case of emergencies.
When Silva returned to his business the following day - which was on Friday - the watchman told him that he had taken out the firearm and left it on the floor of the restaurant -from where it went missing.
Something smelt fishy and Police conducted a search at Virulla's residence where they recovered the firearm and ammunition. Marvin Virulla was arrested and charged for the crime of burglary and the offences of keeping a firearm without a gun license and kept ammunition without a gun license.
