And while that teenager is dead in the city - a 37 year old mother of two from Hattiieville is lucky to be alive after she was shot last night at a few minutes to ten.
Dianne Rhaburn was sitting on her verandah on foster Drive with her common law husband when a stranger dressed in full black came up and asked for the man who sells weed in the neighborhood.
He's a neighbor to Rhaburn - and she said he was up the street. The mystery man went up the street, came back and then fired a shot in her direction.
She didn't know she was hit until she tried to stand up.
Rhaburn received injuries with shotgun pellets to her back and left leg was transported to the KHMH, where she was treated and released.
A neighbor who asked to appear off camera told us that he saw the shooter dashing off:…
Neighbor
"Last night I was by my car and I saw a young man who flew past me like the "roadrunner". That's a little bit before I heard a gunshot. "
Jules Vasquez:
"Ok, so is the young man known to you?"
Neighbor
"No I don't know him. He is not well known."
Jules Vasques
"Did it seem as though he was carrying a firearm?"
Neighbor
"Definitely..."
Jules Vasquez
"Did you see the firearm?"
Neighbor
"Yes."
Jules Vasquez
"What type was it?"
Neighbor
"It looked like a sawed-off (shotgun). Definitely, I was concerned about it because I was close by, and it could have been anybody (who could have been hit). And then, there were kids who were about on the streets, who could have also been hurt."
Jules Vasquez
"Is this an area where people come looking for trouble? Is this an area where there are people with a lot of enemies whose rivals issue threats regularly?"
Neighbor
"I like that you asked that question. Hattieville is a very peaceful place. If you notice, we are low on violence and we don't tolerate those kinds of stuff around here. So this young lady who got shot is not someone who goes looking for trouble. She is not like that; she is always around to help and look out for people like a big sister."
Those in the area tell us that Rhaburn was likely not the target - but it may have been related to a beef between the neighborhood weed seller and a crew from the city….
