On Wednesday night, single Dad and West Canal resident Welton Usher appeared on this newscast complaining that police had taken away his fish cleaning knife and locked him up for an hour. He was angry because he didn't get home in time to cook lunch for his son which h has to do daily.
Well, his son had to find lunch somewhere else today because, now, Welton Usher is in police lockdown. We have confirmed that he was taken in by the Gang Suppression Unit last night as they descended on his yard.
The GSU says they were only detaining him for the CIB - who is seeking him for questioning in connection with an incident in the area.
Up to newstime, he was still in lockdown, and residents we spoke to say police targeted him because he spoke to the media.
