There was one murder over the long Easter weekend - which - in the light of current trends - is merciful. But there's certainly nothing to celebrate; a 50 year old man is dead, it appears the product of a man - woman dispute.

50 year old Osborne Gordon - a bicycle repairman - was stabbed to death at the corner of Cemetery Road and Currasow Street on Sunday morning - around 1:15. It happened when he got into an argument with 48 year old Lucilla Bartley - better known as Chilla - who is said to have stabbed him fatally to his left upper chest.

According to reports, Gordon went for Bartley at the corner - and when she refused to go with him, they started to struggle. Many say Gordon was stabbed with his own knife during that struggle. He was transported to the KHMH but died on arrival. Today his brother - well known artist Michael Gordon - spoke with 7news:..

Monica Bodden
"When were you first inform of his death?"

Michael Gordon, Brother

"The same night. It was like 1am or 2am in the morning."

Monica Bodden
"Someone came to inform you?"

Michael Gordon, Brother
"Yes the policeman came to my house."

Monica Bodden
"So far, what do you understand happen?"

Michael Gordon, Brother
"That someone had stab him to death. Because we have the body at the morgue, he is already dead. Nothing I can say. Later on the police came and say that they know who stab him. They say that a woman had done it. I don't really know the young lady name. I think I saw her here at one time."

Rowland Parks, Reporter
"You know if this young lady had a relationship with your brother?"

Michael Gordon, Brother
"I don't know."

Rowland Parks, Reporter
"When was the last time you saw your brother?"

Rowland Parks, Reporter
"I saw my brother on Good Friday in the evening."

Monica Bodden
"So his death came as a total shock to you?"

Rowland Parks, Reporter
"It's a shock to me yes. They gave me a perfect Easter gift. Any assistant I can get it would be helpful. I will be waiting for that."

48 year old Lucilla Bartley is a mother of 2. She was charged with the murder of 50 year old Osborne Gordon when she appeared today in the magistrate's court. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie did not take a plea from her because the offence is indictable. Neither could she offer Bartley bail because of the nature of the offence. She remanded Bartley into custody until May 24.

And if you would like to assist Michael Gordon with the burial of his brother, you can stop by the bike shop which is located just across from the Shell One Stop Gas station on Central American Boulevard.
