A man got off an attempted murder charge today when no one showed up to testify against him. Thirty one year old Mark Humes, charged with the attempted murder of 20 year old Jermaine Elijio, was acquitted of the charge today in the court of Justice Adolph Lucas.

Justice Lucas directed the jury of 6 women and 3 men to return a formal verdict of not guilty after the prosecution indicated that the complaint cannot be located and it has no further evidence to offer. Humes was not represented by an attorney.

The stabbing occurred in February 8, of 2009 in the Lake Indpendence Area when Elijio claimed that Humes asked him for a cigarette and when he refused, Humes stabbed him under his left armpit with a pair of scissors.
