A 25 year old boat captain is facing a slew of charges ranging from kept ammunition without a gun license to assaulting a police officer. Today in Magistrate's court the charges were read to Karl Heusner, Jr. a resident of Berkley street. They include damage to property, using threatening words, 2 counts of using obscene words and resisting arrest. Heusner plead not guilty to all the charges but was remanded into custody until June 14th, because of the ammunition offence. The incident occurred around 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 10th. Police constable James Jones reported that he was on motorcycle patrol on South Street when he saw Heusner walking. Jones said he stopped Heusner and searched him and found one.22 caliber ammunition in the left front pocket of his pants. The officer said Heusner assaulted him, damaged his water bag, resisted arrest, threatened him and used obscene words in his presence. Heusner alleges he was beaten by Jones and showed several bruises to his body. He was given a medico- legal form and was taken to the KHMH.

Witnesses in the area have flatly rejected the police version of the story. They say the Heusner was not walking but standing in his barber's yard. They say police asked him about a gun and when he denied any knowledge of a firearm - he was told he would be charged for resisting arrest- and then started to beat him.

After that he was put in a police mobile and multiple persons in the area say that a 22 caliber round fell from the police officer and they planted it on Heusner. That's the round he has been remanded for.

Previously in August the Ombudsman had written a letter to the police querrying another case in which Heusner was charged for firing a weapon when witnesses say none was fired…
