Joseph Budna and a 15 year old male appeared in San Ignacio Magistrate's Court today where he was arraigned on a single count of drug trafficking.
Both of them pleaded not guilty and they were released on bail of six thousand dollars with an order from Magistrate Roberto Ordonez to reappear in court on August 16th.
They were represented by attorney Elson Kaseke. Budna gained some local fame recently when he played a pivotal role in getting Oscar Dennis Gonguez out of a Guatemalan jail.
But, when Benque Viejo police searched Budna on Tuesday around 5:20 in his Maroon Mitsubishi car with Guatemalan License Plates a search of the car turned up 3 parcels of cannabis weighing in at a total of 1.8 kilos - which is just under four pounds. Local and Guatemalan marijuana sells for about 200 dollars a pound.
You may recall that Budna was narrowly escaped death in that same car back in January when he picked up two men who tried to rob him.
