There was a city shooting on Friday night in which a business owner had to use his licensed weapon to defend himself.
Nineteen year old Nimrod Fitzgibbon, an employee of the Ministry of Works who limped into the Magistrate's court today with a gunshot injury, was charged with attempted murder, dangerous harm, use of deadly means of harm and aggravated assault. Magistrate Edd Usher remanded Fitzgibbon into custody until October 31.
The incident occurred on Friday September 23 on South Creek Road. Kenroy Conorquie was shot to the inner right ankle. According to police, Conorquie and Meggson Walters were standing in front of Walter's Mechanic shop on South Creek, when 2 men rode up on separate Bicycles from the direction of Central American Boulevard. One of them pulled out a firearm and fired shots in their direction. Meggson Walters pulled out his license 9mm pistol and returned fire. Conorquie and Fitzgibbon were injured.
Fitzgibbon was the alleged assailant, but his mother, Marie Alvarez, said her son was shot in his right ankle and nobody has been charged for it.
She claims her son was shot while he was walking on North Creek Road when he went to buy baked beans for a barbecue they were having on Supal Street.
