Tonight a woman police constable is in serious condition at the Southern Regional Hospital after she was stabbed today in - of all places - the Dangriga Police Station where she works.
The victim is WPC #1287 Delia Hyde and the accused is her ex-common law, KENT McKENZIE, known as "Ninja Mack". According to the official report, this afternoon, police went to execute a warrant against Mckenzie on Delia Hyde's behalf. As we understand it, the issue between them is child support money that he owes her for the child they share. But, it seems Ninja Mack has his own police connections and according to our reports, rather than being arrested and picked up - as would normally be the case, he was allowed to drive himself to the police station unescorted and simply walked in to the station without any restraints.
That is when he stabbed her twice in the back. How he got a weapon into the police station is a question is a question police will have to answer.
McKenzie has been detained pending charges. Hyde is conscious and with family at the hospital. As we understand it, their dispute has been ongoing for some time. Delia Hyde's current husband is a police officer.
