Five persons who were kept on remand even after their friend pleaded guilty to gun possession are free tonight.
The charges of kept firearm and kept ammunition without a gun license, were withdrawn from the 23 year old Jamie Young, 26 year old Kevin Vaccaro, 22 year old Janine Henry, 19 year old Natalie Middleton and a 17 year old boy. Only Earl Gill, the 23 year old security guard who was the driver of the car in which the firearm and ammunition were found, is still in custody at Belize Central Prison. The prosecution has not withdrawn the charges from Gill because it is believed that Gill must have known that the firearm and ammunition were in the glove compartment of his car. Orlando Reyes, a 24 year old plumber, was sentenced to 5 years when he pleaded guilty to the charges on Monday, December 12.
