Last night on this newscast, you saw Jade Trapp explain the long history of abuse her mother, Martha Wagner had endured before her husband Felipe Wagner almost killed her in a stabbing.
Well, like we always say: two sides to every story, and Wagner's sister stopped by our studios today to refute some of last night's claims. She concedes that while her brother was extremely wrong to do what he did, Martha Alicia Wagner was no angel. Felipe's family alleges that she had been having a relationship with Felipe's own brother for some time - which is what led to the stabbing. Donna Flores Wagner told 7 News, her sister in law also had a history of violence against her brother, and their testy and volatile relationship was public knowledge.

"Martha Alicia Wagner claims that my brother always abuses her and on the contrary she is the one that abuse my brother all the time."
"In Orange Walk Town everyone knows their story. Anyone you ask in the street - just stop anyone and ask them who is Alicia and Felipe Wagner and they will tell you the story."

"So they are constantly fighting with each other?"

"She was really jealous, obsessively jealous. He took a lot of beatings from her. All over his body he has a lot of scars where she had stabbed and beat him with whatever she could find, he has a lot of scars in his head where she use to beat him with her high heels and things like that."

"He never reported that type of beating to the police?"

"He never did, you know for men that's embarrassing."

"What did he tell you about the most recent incident that landed his wife in the hospital and landed him in jail?"

"The truth, it's a bit embarrassing for me because it involve two of my brothers. My brother Felipe as I mentioned before use to go to the US and bring back cars and all that. When my brother was gone she would usually call my next brother John and John would come and stay with her in the house. We thought he was just working with her and all that until for a new year's party almost 2 years ago my brother had a few drinks and he said Alicia it's about time we come out of the closet, let's just tell everybody that we love each other and that we have been having a sexual relationship."

"Yes John Wagner."

"Essentially Felipe's wife was cheating on him with his own brother."
Donna Flores Wagner
"Yes and that had been going on for almost two years. The day that my brother comes back form the US, he goes home, the daughter was there. He ask the daughter where is your mother, I brought her pizza and I brought that and the daughter told Felipe that her mother went out to see a client; since they sold cars. My brother had figured out where she was at the time, went there and when he got there I don't know if the daughter call the mother to let her know that Felipe is on his way, they were outside hugging when my brother got there and she started to provoke him saying that she doesn't love him anymore, John is my new man now, he makes love to me better than you. This is what my brother told me and he says he doesn't know what happened."
"I am not trying to justify what my brother did because it is wrong. He did a very wrong thing, but then when you come to think of it you know, I try to put myself in his shoes, if somebody came and told me that he is better than you, he makes love to me better than you, I would lose it."
"She has claimed that we have been threatening her. I would never do that. I consider myself smarter than that and nowadays with so much technology you could never get away with that but then on the contrary we do have some text messages that we have gotten from her. In one of them it states; "Tell Felipe to get out of my house, I don't love him anymore and just tell me who is John's sweetheart for once and for all." So I don't know why she would want to know who John's sweetheart is when he is only the brother-in-law. The other text is "I forgive no one and I hope he gets raped" and "you will get what you deserve.""
Wagner's sister says she hopes that her brother will use the time spent in jail to reflect on the type of behavior and relationship that led him to commit such a senseless act. Felipe Wagner applied for bail today in the Supreme Court - but the hearing was adjourned as his attorney Dickie Bradley was given time to respond to affidavits submitted by the prosecution. So, he remains on remand.
