53 year-old Ronald Nicholas, a construction worker of West Street, is spending his first night of a 2 year sentence after he was convicted of wounding before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer today.
44 year-old Juan Francisco Chavez, reported that at around 2:30 a.m. yesterday, he was on Albert Street buying food when Nicholas suddenly ran out and stoned him with an empty beer bottle.
A doctor classified the injury as wounding. Nicholas pleaded guilty to the charge, and told Senior Magistrate Frazer that he and Chavez had a previous disagreement, and that's why he did it.
Because Nicholas owes 2 outstanding fines for convictions in 2005 and 2009 for pipe possession, Senior Magistrate Frazer decided to forgo another fine, and she sentenced him to spend 2 years, which will run concurrently to the warrants for those fines which he has not paid.
