Last night just before 7, there was a shooting at the far end of Neal Penn Road which left 2 persons injured - but it's a minor miracle that no one was killed.
Today 7News caught up with the 2 victims, and we found out that the gunman came and fired indiscriminately - over a dozen shots - at a group of about 8 people who were all socializing.
Here's what they told us about the incident, including how the assailant risked hitting a baby girl as well:

"Well, I was sitting down with my brother, my cousin, and other people on the street, and brother looked at me and said, 'look at that man who is walking over here.' By the time I spun around and looked at the person, I saw that he was coming in full black. By the time I took my eyes off of him, I heard a loud bang. As the first shot caught me in my leg, I ran through 2 different yards, and a lot more shots started to fire. After that, I came out and one of my friends asked us who got shot. I told him that it was me who got shot in the legs, and he told me to go with the police to the station. And, that's how I ended up going to the hospital. Everybody who was out there at the time, I mean we sit down out there all the time. We don't make problem with anybody. We usually sit down on the sidewalk, drink and smoke a little weed from time to time. We don't miss with anybody."

"Sir, is the first time that any of your friends have been targeted by gunfire like this?"

"Well, on that side of Penn Road where we were, yes."

"Do you think that's related to any 'beef' where a gunman would just come and attack your neighborhood just because you guys are on the sidewalk?"

"Well I can't give account of anyone because I am working for at least a year now, so I can't give an account of what other people are doing. I was just out there with them that one evening drink some wine with them, and I got caught up with up in it."

"Sir, how did you manage to escape with 2 injuries to the legs from gunshot?"

"Well, when the first shot went off, I only felt the warmness of my blood on my legs, and I didn't even feel when I got shot in the next leg. I just ran because by the time I heard that shot, I was already gone. It's when I came back out, that's when I realize that I got shot."

"Yes, indeed I was lucky, the shooting was frightening. This the first time that I've experienced something like this, and while sitting on the sidewalk, I saw the gunman coming, but I didn't know that he was a gunman. I saw him coming, but I didn't think anything of it. I turned my head back, and I was speaking to a friend. Like about 2 minutes after that, I heard a loud bang, but I didn't know that it was a gunshot. When the bullet hit the sidewalk, the sand flew in my face, and I then heard another one. I saw my friends running, and I began to run to. I ran across to a neighbor's house. I think I got grazed by one of the gunshots. I felt my leg burning, and my mother called my stepfather, who came and took me to the hospital."

"Ma'am, I was made to understand that you may have had your daughter with you during the time of that shooting. Is that information correct?"

"Yes, my daughter was out there with me."

"And so, it's a miracle that neither your daughter nor you suffered any major injuries from that shooting."

"Yes."
Both victims have been released from hospital, and they are back at their homes. Police recovered 14 expended shells at the scene.
