And, the news tonight is that the main suspects for two of those murders have been charged.
Eighteen year old Lionel Kelly was charged with the murder of Tevin Palmer when he appeared today before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza. He was remanded into custody until September 8. On Wednesday afternoon at 3:00, Kelly allegedly went into the Castle Street home where Palmer was eating and shot him three times in the head. Kelly is a resident of Banak Street - which is where Giovanni Gentle lived before he was killed last week Friday night. The Palma killing is believed to be a retaliation for the Gentle murder. Interestingly, Kelly's mother lived in the same house where Palma was killed and she was also detained. The home was burnt after the murder, probably as an act of counter-retaliation.
So while police say that is the man who killed Tevin on Castle Street, who killed Devin Parham on Cemetery Road one hour later? Turns out it is allegedly a resident of Castle Street. Twenty-seven year old Valentine Baptist, was charged with the murder of Devin Parham when he appeared today before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser. As we told you police caught him right after the fatal shots were fired on Cemetery road. He was caught with a Glock 9 millimeter pistol so he was also charged with kept a firearm without a gun license. He was remanded into custody until August 26.
