After a few few weeks of delays, the Belmopan murder trial of William "Danny" Mason and his co-defendants resumed this afternoon before Justice Antoinette Moore.

As we told you, Mason, and his 4-co-defendants: Ashton Vanegas, Keron Fernandez, Terrence Fernandez, and Ernest Castillo, are all charged with the July 2016 beheading murder of Pastor Llewellyn Lucas.

The trial picked up today at an important juncture: the court began testing the validity of a caution statement from one of the defendants in a trial within this trial. We're not able to provide you with details of today's proceeding because the press was not allowed to sit in and listen to that part of the trial. It is being treated as confidential, but we understand that the caution statement is important to the prosecution's case.

Today's hearing lasted for almost 4 hours, and when the defense attorneys exited, they all declined interviews, and requests for comment.

We understand, however, that 3 witnesses took the stand today, and that the trial will continue tomorrow with more testimony for the court to consider whether or not the caution statement should be admitted into evidence.
