Police made a cocaine bust last weekend on the island of Caye Caulker.
On Saturday morning Special Branch police went to Luciano Reyes Street to respond to reports that 3 men in that area were acting suspiciously.
They stopped and searched 5 men and found Albert Requena with cocaine. The 31-year-old pharmacist from New Road in Belize City was allegedly carrying a black Columbia brand school bag. When the cops confiscated the bag and searched inside, they found a stack of 50-dollar bills to a total amount of $8,600. Inside that same bag, they found a rectangular shaped parcel that had the marking "XL" on it. The cops immediately suspected it to be cocaine, it weighed in at 2.78 pounds or a little over 1.2 kilograms. On the streets that is worth about 25 thousand dollars.
The cops detained Requena and charged him with possession of a controlled drug with the intent to supply, also known as drug trafficking.
