And with two lawmen injured by gunfire, plus a shotgun somewhere in the mix - the police and BDF who are out there right now, are expecting hostile engagements and prepared to respond in kind.
And that's why the family of one escapee is making an appeal on facebook and the news.
Deon White was on remand awaiting trial for murder - and from his family's perspective, he made a really bad decision to join in a prison break, only putting his life in more danger.
They are worried that the cops may shoot- or worse, kill him.
This morning, we spoke with White's sister, Deidra Avila, and here's her impassioned plea to her brother, who she hopes will stop running the cops:
Deidra Avila - Sister of Deon White

"The escaped prisoner who ran away from jail, Deon White, he is my brother, and I would just want him to [Sobs] go home back. Go back to prison because I don't know why he even left there. Please contact me or my mother. Just go back. I don't want anything to happen to him. Just let him go back and give himself in, only that. He hasn't called. Please go back to prison. Please call us [and tell us] where you are."
"I just want him to be safe wherever he is; remember, he needs to eat. He needs water, and he has none of those. So, I don't know why he even ran away."
"Please come to us, at least call, and allow us to give him in, or he goes and hands himself in, only that. I wish that he can see this right now."
Back in February of this year, Deon White was arraigned in the Magistrate's Court for the offenses of murder, attempted murder, dangerous harm, and use of deadly means of harm. Police believe that on the night of Saturday, February 22, 2020, that he was one of two men who carried out the execution-style murder of 33-year-old Walter Ezekiel Usher.
Usher was at a friend's house on Rio Bravo Crescent in Belize City. 2 men arrived on a motorcycle and they immediately fired a barrage of gunshots in his direction. He was fatally injured, but 61-year-old Joyce Richards, a resident from Forest Home, Toledo, was passing by the area in a vehicle at the same time as the shoot-out. She came to Belize City to visit an ailing friend, and during the wild spray of bullets, she was innocently injured.
