There was a fatal, hit-and-run traffic accident last night in the Toledo District. Police found the vehicle which ran him over, but the driver fled the scene.

At around 6:49 p.m. yesterday, the cops responded to a report that an accident had occurred in an area between miles 7 and 8 on the Old San Antonio Road, located in Jacintoville Village.

When they arrived, they found a bicycle on the right shoulder of the road which had its back wheel extensively damaged. About a hundred feet away, the officers also found the motionless body of a man who was lying face up with major head and body injuries. They were later able to identify him as Raymond Pop, but police have not shared any other particulars about him.

What they have been able to establish is that at about 6:40 p.m., Pop was on his bicycle when he was rear ended by the pickup. The force of that impact threw Pop unto the highway, and his body was dragged about 100 feet. The pickup was found crashed off the side of the road.
