Last year in July, 35-year-old Lenroy Longsworth and 22-year-old Kenisha Beaton were allegedly busted by law enforcement with over 54 pounds of high-grade marijuana. Tonight, the couple is free of the drug trafficking charge for all that marijuana. But, Longsworth has to pay a 10,000-dollar fine for a smaller quantity of marijuana, that police were able to connect to him in a full trial.

On July 16, 2019, a joint law enforcement team of police and BDF acted on Special Branch intelligence and moved on a home near Driftwood Bay in Belize City, which is located near mile 4 and a half on the Philip Goldson Highway. That intelligence was spot on, and the cops found the High-grade marijuana known as "Mexican Kush", and the large sum of cash.

Both Longsworth and Beaton were later charged with 2 counts of drug trafficking for the 54 pounds of marijuana, and a smaller quantity of 263 grams, which the cops found during that search.

When the case finally went to a full trial before Magistrate Emmerson Banner, Beaton was found not guilty of both charges. Longsworth wasn't so lucky, and the prosecution managed to prove its case against him for the 263 grams of weed. He was acquitted of the larger 54 pounds of high-grade marijuana because the cops did not establish that he was the owner of the van, where those drugs were found. That van had Corozal license plates, and Longsworth insisted that he was repairing it for someone else.

But, for the conviction for the much smaller quantity, Longsworth was sentenced to pay a fine of $10,000. He must finish payment on this fine by March 21 of next year, or he will spend 3 years in jail, in default.
